‘Uprisings’ covers riots, civil disobedience, political turmoil, social disorders and revolutions of all kinds, looking at how artists have dealt with the theme at different moments in history.
From Francisco de Goya’s The Disasters of War to the videos by the film maker Maria Kourkouta on the refugee crisis in Europe, the exhibition maps out the forces which drive men and women to rise up again and again.
