The interesting urban route, offering a chance to take in the main tourist attractions in the city, and Barcelona’s mild climate make this marathon one of the most attractive in Europe.
Apart from the main event, the city will also be organising a weekend of sport and athletics with activities for all sectors of the public.
On 10 and 11 March the Expo Sports fair will be held in hall 8 at the Montjuïc trade fair site. The event is one of the most important fairs in Europe for athletics, mountain events and triathlons. Nearly 200 exhibitors will be participating and entry to the fair is free.
On Saturday, 11 March, young children will be able to take part in the Kids Race in Av. Reina Maria Cristina. Older participants will be able to warm up for the main race with the Breakfast Run. The 4 km run follows the route for the final section of the marathon in the Barcelona Olympic Games.
On Saturday, Expo Sports will be the scene for the Pasta Party, where pasta dishes will be served to people running the marathon the next day.
